Lebanon Valley Midwifery and Women’s Wellness and the Lebanon Valley Birth Center is a 19-year-old growing autonomous midwifery service and licensed accredited birth center which is unique to our area.
We are excited to announce a new position for a certified nurse-midwife Clinical Director. The current owner/director is retiring. We are reorganizing with robust support from our clients and professional colleagues. We are pursuing non-profit status. Our Practice Manager, who brings seven years of extensive institutional knowledge, has agreed to move into the role of Executive Director, freeing a Clinical Director to focus on midwifery and oversight of clinical care. The new Clinical Director will be supported by her, in addition to our renowned Medical Director who has a passion for the care we provide and by the wider community who are eager to see this birth center continue and will support its stability and growth.
About us
We provide full-scope midwifery and newborn care to our population, about 75% of whom are from the Plain community (Amish, Mennonite, others) and a diverse group of other families. We accept all payor types. All are committed to physiologic out-of-hospital birth and to a model of self-determination and shared decision making. Nearly 100% breastfeed. We have a low cesarean rate. You will also have the opportunity to give care for some unique health conditions.
Recently, we have had 160-200 registrations and 120-170 births a year. Most are in our licensed CABC accredited birth center. Ten percent are homebirths. The rest are at our two collaborative hospitals (where we have privileges providing continuity of care) or other nearby hospitals. We offer water birth, nitrous, and a have a special service to those who wish to have a VBAC.
We collaborate with many providers in our region beginning with our Medical Director and collaborative OB/CNM practice. A local MFM service performs ultrasounds at our office. The world-renowned Clinic for Special Children provides consultation and comprehensive care to our children and adults with genetic and other complex medical disorders.
You will be joining a team of CNMs, our nurses who work in the office and as birth assistants, our lactation consultant, and the administrative staff. The current owner/director is willing to continue as a full or part-time staff midwife if the leadership wishes.
