Key Responsibilities:
As a Labor & Delivery Nurse at Beebe Healthcare, you will:
- Provide direct and indirect nursing care to patients in the Labor & Delivery unit, ensuring patient safety and adherence to hospital policies.
- Facilitate, implement, and evaluate individualized Patient Plans of Care in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Demonstrate strong critical thinking and technical skills to effectively prioritize and manage patient care.
- Accurately document patient assessments at admission, transfer, and discharge, ensuring compliance with hospital standards.
- Assess and protect patient safety, following all hospital policies and procedures.
- Evaluate and report critical test results promptly and efficiently.
- Address the educational needs of patients, providing and documenting teaching as needed.
- Ensure proper transcription of orders and execute them with attention to detail.
- Collect and correctly label blood and urine specimens, ensuring timely delivery to the lab.
- Maintain open communication with the healthcare team to ensure a smooth, coordinated patient care experience.
Responsibilities
- Facilitates, implements, and evaluates the Patient Plan of Care and outcomes in collaboration with the health care team.

- Documents patient assessments accurately and correctly within the specified time at admission, transfer, and discharge.
- Assess and Protects patient safety (Including following hospital policy and procedures).
- Evaluates test results and reports critical results immediately.
- Educational needs of patient.
- Documents teaching performed and modifies plan as needed. Transcription of orders. Effectively Prioritized care based on the needs of the patient and of the unit.
- Collects adequate and correct blood/urine specimens from patients as ordered by physicians, using proper technique and equipment.
- Correctly labels specimens and processes.
- Ensures appropriate delivery of specimens to the lab via courier or specimen pick up from outside agencies.
Qualifications
Must complete Point of Care Testing training, Neonatal rescusitation program (NRP) and Fetal monitoring as part of Department Orientation.
Baby friendly education within 6 months of hire.
STABLE certificate preferred.
