Lab Assistant
The Lab Assistant has knowledge of laboratory practices, specimen integrity & stability, federal and state requirements for laboratory operations, and applicable accreditation standards. Ability to operate laboratory centrifuges, perform a variety of blood collection techniques including venous and capillary collections. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Receives specimens, place orders, add test, delete test, spin down, separate and distribute specimens to the proper departments. * Prepares specimen to send to reference labs. * Answers telephone calls from unit Nurses, Internal/External Physicians, and their concerns regarding specimen problems. * Complete all duties as assigned.
