The role you’ll contribute:
Under general supervision, the Lead Certified Lactation Consultant has ownership for all evidence-based lactation related processes, policies, and procedures.The Lead Lactation Consultant supports the breastfeeding mother and baby at all AdventHealth locations and in the community.Teaches breastfeeding classes, makes rounds on the maternity units, provides assistance with the telephone helpline, and offers private consultations and breastfeeding products in the retail store.Creates lactation consultant inpatient and outpatient schedules. Promotes a positive image of breastfeeding and supports Baby Friendly initiatives at the Baby Friendly locations. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
Maintains and updates all supporting documents for all lactation services, including policies, procedures, work instructions and Baby Friendly documents.
Oversees all lactation inpatient and outpatient parent and nursing education content. Ensures all educational content is up to date and evidence based. Provides in services on request.
Collaborates with Birth Experience Manager to track lactation metrics across the service line.Makes suggestions for improvements on care and care processes related to outcomes.
Makes patient rounds across Women’s Services at assigned.Visits each breastfeeding mother/baby dyad.Maintains a friendly, professional manner.
Sets the standard for thorough and appropriate documentation for newborn feeding across Women’s Services.
Works in various lactation centers as assigned, duties may include private consults for breastfeeding mothers, answers the breastfeeding telephone helpline, facilitates the weekly mother/baby luncheon, sells breastfeeding products/collects money, and keeps accurate records.
Participates in opportunities to educate the community regarding breastfeeding/research projects/speaking opportunities/AdventHealth committees.Maintains interest in the quality of work done in this department and makes suggestions for improvements.
Creates lactation services inpatient and outpatient schedule.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Two (2) years’ Perinatal or newborn nursing experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
Current valid State of Florida or multi state license as a Registered Nurse
International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
