Minimum Education Requirements

1. Bachelor of Science from College of Nursing is required. Master of Science from a College of Nursing is preferred.
2. Professional Certification is required.
3. Current Maryland RN licensure is required.

Qualifications

1. American Heart Association (AHA) BLS required upon hire
2. Must meet all unit specific certification requirements: (PALS, ACLS, NRP)
3. Maintains all Sr. Clinical Nurse I core expectations
4. Must maintain 0.50 FTE or greater
5. Works in a Direct Patient Care Role
6. No discipline greater than a verbal counseling within the past year
7. Meets satisfactory level or higher on last two performance appraisals (if applicable)
8. Ability to learn and use computer systems in order to manage patient information
9. Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

Working Conditions

Works inside a clean, well-lighted environment. . May be exposed to frequent interruptions and multiple crisis situations. May be physically or verbally abused by patients. Expected to work on rotating shifts including weekends and holidays as necessary. May be expected to work on other than regular unit to provide adequate staffing, if the need arises. Participates in temporary assignment measures of department of Nursing. Potential for regular exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials, requiring the observance of Standard (Universal) Precautions and safe handling practices. This position has been classified as medium exposure risk and requires the completion of an annual respirator mask fitting.

Physical Requirements

Standing, sitting, bending and walking is required 0-5 hours/shift. Involves heavy lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling (up to and in excess of 100 lbs.) 0-3 hours/shift, in accordance with Safe Patient Lifting policy. Includes reaching for, fingering, grasping and handling equipment/supplies 0-3 hours/shift. Requires hearing/listening to differentiate sounds 0-3 hours/shift. Visual acuity is necessary to read labels, charts, documents and use various instruments 0-3 hours/shift.
