Atlantic Health System is seeking a Full Time Nurse Educator, Registered Nurse for the Nursing Education Department at Morristown Medical Center primarily working a day shift. The focus will be on training for Maternity. Supports the company and the university in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of education for both nurses and nursing student programs to promote their development. Supports nursing clinical, nursing continuing education, patient-focused care classes and programs required by regulatory agencies for caregivers. Provides health related education as required by contract and accreditation standards. Plays an important role by collaborating with MMC clinical and leadership staff, nursing students and departments chairs. Role plays an important part in contributing toward the mission and values of AHS and the university aligned with the position.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
Ensures all on-the-job training and clinical education is consistent
Acts as both an internal and external faculty member, assisting with the integration of new learning into nursing practice and serving as a resource for both nursing students and nurses in identifying problems, identifying available internal and external educational resources, and selecting educational options.
Works with the education team in identifying changes that should be made in nursing curriculum for students and facilitating the adoption of, and adaption to chang Strives for excellence in nursing education and patient care by self-monitoring and, as necessary, to ensure the safety and well-being of the patient. Identifies existing and potential problems and takes effective actions.
Develops and maintains an awareness of needed improvements in educational opportunities, patient care, procedures, equipment and supplies and makes recommendations.
Engages both students and clinical nurses in research activities on the unit.
Qualifications
Education:
MSN Required
License/Certification:
Current New Jersey Registered Nurse License
BLS/NRP Required
Specialty certification required
Relevant Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of Acute Care/Maternity experience as a registered nurse in a hospital setting
Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
Patient, compassionate nature
Ability to operate as part of a team, alongside physicians, nurses and nursing students.
Proficiency in computer-based data management programs and information systems
