Beginnings Birth Center in Colorado Springs is Southern Colorado's first freestanding birth center. We are state licensed and nationally accredited by CABC. We are a closed-model birth center where only our employees are attending births at the center.
This privately-owned freestanding birth center has three birthing rooms and is located in North Colorado Springs. Our clinic includes five exam rooms including our ultrasound room where our in-house ultrasound technicians provide ultrasound services for our clients. We are 1.8 miles/6 minutes from our transfer hospital.
We opened in late 2018 and have welcomed over 600 babies since then. We are currently averaging 35-40 clients due each month.
Our team is seeking an experienced part-time or full-time CNM to join us - flexible between a 0.6 and 1.0 FTE.
Our growing practice includes full scope midwifery care providing women's health, antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum and newborn care. You will be a member of a team of 5-6 CNMs. All births are attended at the birth center. Our birth assistants are RNs.
Call and office days vary based on current staffing, but we have our post call day off. We also schedule no longer than a 24 hour continuous call on weekdays and no longer than 48 hours of continuous call on the weekends whenever possible. Increased call and/or office will be expected during time off for colleagues because we believe time off should be protected and call and/or office time should not have to be made-up before or after using PTO. Typical full-time 1.0 FTE schedule is 1-2 call shifts per week and 2-3 office days per week. Call days are separate from office days - you are not on call and in the office at the same time. We have seven 30-minute slots on office days (see up to 14, rarely 15, clients per office day).
We are in search of a certified nurse midwife with a strong sense of teamwork, incredibly high standards in their work and life, strong work ethic, communication skills, emotional intelligence, a willingness to adapt to change quickly, a passion for evidence-based practice, and attention to detail. We expect candidates who are excited about the birth center model of midwifery care.
Colorado Springs is an area that is growing quickly, but maintains its smaller-town feel in many areas. We are home to many award-winning schools and school districts. We are close to the mountains - depending where you are in the city, you could be out in the mountains within 10-30 minutes from your home. It is an expectation to live within 20-30 minutes of the birth center upon starting a position.
Salary based on experience - expect in the low $90K's for the required 2 years of experience for a 1.0 FTE. 401K offered after 90 days for full or part-time. Health/dental/vision/short term disability/long term disability/life insurance for positions that are at least a 0.8 FTE. CEU allowance of $1500 per year, PTO of 3 weeks per year and 1 week can be carried over. Eligible for yearly bonus after 2 years.
Minimum 2 years' experience required.
Our ideal candidate must:
- Be excited about birth centers and the birth center model of care
- Have an understanding and respect for physiological birth
- Have a strong belief in a low-tech, high-touch and low-intervention midwifery model of care
- Value the results of new research and welcome the process of creatively incorporating it into care
- Desire to be a part of a very hard-working and innovative team
- Be passionate about VBAC (we are the only birth center in the State of Colorado offering both primary and secondary VBAC in a birth center setting)
Both hospital and community birth experience is much preferred but not required.
Experience/knowledge/strong interest in holistic health is also desired.
