Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
ObGyn North Austin PLLC and Natural Beginning Birth Center are excited to recruit a full-time CNM to join our midwife team. This collaborative practice functions with 4 full-time CNMs and 4 full-time OBGYNs. It is the first collaborative practice in Austin, Texas beginning this model 11 years ago. The birth center which is attached to the main office was opened in 2013 to offer women exceptional care in both in-hospital and out-of-hospital environments.
The full-time CNMs cover call for the birth center only (not hospital) on a q4 rotating schedule. The rotating schedule repeats every 4 weeks; in that 4 week block there are 7- 24hr call days and 10 days of clinic. Clinic days are from 8-11:30 and 1-4:30, only on weekdays. CNMs typically see 20-24 patients in a clinic day. Opportunities are available to expand skills to include colposcopy, IUD insertions, etc.
The birth center typically delivers 10-15 patients per month. The hospital is immediately across the street from the birth center to increase safety when transports are necessary. The birth assistants are all Labor & Deliver RNs with BLS and NRP certifications. The relationship between birth center and hospital staff is excellent.
One of our current CNMs is transitioning to a teaching position in January 2020 and we are filling her position in the 4 CNM team. We are looking for an experienced CNM - ideally with prior out-of-hospital birth experience. Passion for a woman's right to choose her birth setting is a must. Skill with IUD placement would be preferable. We look forward welcoming a new member to our team.
