JOB SUMMARY: Coordinates childbirth education classes. Serves as liaison with Carelink, Marketing and IT to promote education. Supervises and communicates with childbirth education staff. Teaches childbirth classes including childbirth education, sibling, basic parenting skills, and infant/child CPR. Utilize evidence based practice to standardize Perinatal education for the Women’s Health Service Line. Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Medical Center in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction. Responsible for ensuring the very best patient/family experience by optimizing all customer interaction. Foster a positive work environment through mutual support and cooperation and adheres to GHS and unit specific Service Standards. Works under the supervision of the Operations Manager. COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Demonstrates community involvement, public speaking, and teaching experience. Demonstrates creativity and flexibility. Demonstrates OB knowledge and Labor and Delivery experience. Demonstrates ability to work effectively with other departments. Demonstrates ability to use tact and persuasion to organize and problem solve. Demonstrates ability to work effectively with community members. Demonstrates ability to communicate with all ages and educational/socioeconomic levels. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: RN required. BSN required. Childbirth educator certification required. Minimum two years OB nursing experience required. Minimum two years childbirth education experience required. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Classes will be held in a variety of settings, including Hood Center, outpatient clinics, schools, and community rooms. Traveling required to the outreach and HOP ob/gyn sites as well as GSWB and GWV. Lifting up to 75lbs for equipment and supplies required.
