Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
POSITION SUMMARY: Works in the hospital and clinic and fulfills the need as Mid-level Provider performing selective medical services under the direction of the physician(s). Is responsible for the independent management of women's health care, focusing on common primary care issues, family planning and gynecological needs of women, pregnancy, childbirth, and the post partum period. The CNM practices within a health care system that provides for consultation, collaborative management, or referral, as indicated by the health of the patient. On-call hours may be required
EDUCATION: Graduate of an Accredited Certified Nurse Midwifery Program. Current Licensure and certification required by the State of New Mexico to practice as a Certified Nurse Midwife, Current DEA license, and current BLS Certification Required, ACLS Certification preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Current Licensure and certification required by the State of New Mexico to practice as a Certified Nurse Midwife, Current DEA license, and current BLS Certification Required, ACLS Certification preferred.
SKILLS: Extensive knowledge of physical assessment, differential diagnosis, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and management of women's health problems throughout the life span. Extensive knowledge and ability to care for women in the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum period. Examines patients during pregnancy, utilizing physical findings, laboratory test results, and patients' statement to evaluate condition and ensure that patient's progress is normal. Discuss case with members of the health care team to assure observation of specified practices. Awareness and sensitivity to cross-cultural issues. High level of analytic ability to concentrate and pay attention to detail. Strong organizational skills and ability to function independently, and identify situations that provide for consultation and/or collaboration with Physicians.
